Safely Governing College Boxing Since 1976

Support the NCBA as we celebrate 50 years. We are seeking support from Alumni, Friends, Family and Supporters to provide funds to launch the NCBA into its next half-century.

Funds will be used to support the National Championships, registration, equipment and travel grants for clubs, registration fees for recently graduated athletes who agree to become NCBA officials and to seed an NCBA Scholarship Fund.

The National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) is the senior college boxing governing body in the United States.  The NCBA provides student athletes an opportunity to box at the recreational, intramural, and competitive levels. Our philosophy and rules provide a safe and level playing field for both new and experienced athletes.

  • Formed in 1976; A group member of USA Boxing.

  • NCBA Pillars:

    • Safety First; Safety Always!

      • Specific eligibility rules prioritize the safety of the athletes above all other considerations.

      • Weight Classes and competition rules specially designed for college boxing.

    • Participation

      • Eligibility limited to those entering college with 10 bouts or less.

      • Must be a member of a registered college boxing club.

      • Most clubs welcome recreational members.

    • Competition

      • Pre-matched bouts (by weight and experience) throughout the year.

      • Regional Tournaments in March

      • National Championship in April

    • Leadership and Character

      • Club sport members have greater role in leading their clubs on campus.

      • Boxing develops courage, discipline, resilience and persistence.

      • Balances the individual nature of competition with the collaborative nature of training as a member of a team.

NCBA is a group member (LBC 60) of USA Boxing. Our season is congruent with college academic calendars and therefore runs from August until April.
